Two containerised 120 m3/day seawater Reverse Osmosis desalination plants have recently been shipped by Salt Separation Services. The plants are destined for Ascension Island where they will be used to provide potable quality water for the inhabitants. The plants will be installed at the BBC transmitting station’s power station and are replacing the existing plants that are almost 25 years old. | |
Mounted in modified 20’ ISO shipping containers, each plant is self-contained and includes all necessary pre and post treatment as well as energy recovery, thereby reducing the plants energy consumption (from around 6 or 7 kWh/m3 down to around 4 kWh/m3).
