In July 2008, Salt Separation Services were awarded a contract to design, manufacture and commission four 450 m3/d seawater Reverse Osmosis desalination plants for installation on two cruise ships to be constructed by a European shipyard.
Each of the 124,000 GT ships will be fitted with two of the 450 m3/d plants.
During construction, manufacturing surveillance will be undertaken by Lloyd’s Register.
Manufacture of the plants is to take place during 2009 and 2010.
These will be the first plants that Salt Separation Services have installed on “new-build” cruise ships, with all previous installations being retrofits into existing vessels.
The award of this contract demonstrates Salt Separation Services market strength in this particular sector.
